The Old South Jamboree was started by Lester an Dee Hodges in the mid 1960's It was started as a concert hall that the entire family could come to and enjoy good country music and a family environment. Most of the great artists have performed on the stage of the Old South including Merle Haggard, George Jones, Dolly Parton and many, many others. And now, some 45 years later, Mr. Hodges is still behind the snack bar providing hot dogs and pop corn, and it is still a venue that you can bring your entire family to. There are two main shows at the Old South building every month. Both of these shows are now hosted by Carlton Jones and The Red Hot Country Band. The shows are the first and third Saturdays of every month at 7 pm. Doors open at 5:30, and tickets are still $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6 - 12 and free for kids under 6. The Original Old South Jamboree features "Carlton Jones and His Red Hot Country Band" every first and third Saturday of the month. Carlton plays guitar and sings, and the other members of the band include some of the areas best musicians - Randy Blackwell on steel guitar, Robert Reynolds on Drums and vocals, Kelly Kemp on guitar and keyboard, Jeremy Downey on vocals and keyboard, Eddie Warren on bass and vocals, Larry and Maxine Whitfield singing vocals and back up vocals. Call - Carlton Jones at 225-936-0349 with any questions. Visit the Old South Jamboree website HERE.
